25 Review Request Text Templates for Contractors
Updated August 2026
A text is the best way to ask for a Google review. It lands in the customer's pocket, it gets read within minutes, and texted review requests get completed far more often than emailed ones. The hard part is knowing what to say. So copy one of these, swap in your details, and send it.
Before you send: three rules
- Have your Google review link ready. Every template ends with [Review link]. That's the short link that opens the review box for your business. Here's how to find yours if you don't have it saved.
- Personalize the first line. Use their name and one detail from the job. A text that could have gone to anyone reads like spam. A text that could only have gone to them reads like you.
- Never offer anything in return. No discounts, no gift cards, no entries in a drawing. Google's policy bans incentivized reviews and businesses do get caught. Just ask honestly.
One more thing: only text customers who gave you their number and agreed to hear from you. These are people you just did work for, not a purchased list.
Right after the job
The best moment to ask is the relief moment: the water runs, the AC blows cold, the yard looks sharp, and the customer is standing there happy about it. Send one of these within a couple hours of wrapping up.
